Poured myself a dram the other night, and honestly, first thing I noticed was how pale it was - like a very pale white wine, barely any colour at all. Very young, you can tell straight away. First sip and it's all apples at the front, loads of orchard fruits. Then there's this raw maltiness, kind of grainy, like barley water almost. Little touch of ginger creeping in, bit peppery on the finish which was rather long actually. There's something chalky about it too, and a hint of coffee that surprised me. The distillate itself is fine though, you can tell the spirit's decent quality. Muscadet comes to mind - that light, crisp wine character. Sweet and fruity all the way through, very typical young fruity Speysider. Rather sherried influence I reckon from the refill hogshead. Kind of immature but not in a bad way, just... young. Mother Nature hasn't had enough time with this one yet 😄 Not what I'd usually expect, honestly feels like the opposite of what I'd normally go for, but there's something charming about it. Those very young malt whiskies can be quite refreshing when you're in the mood for something lighter. The grains really shine through. Ginger spice lingers nicely at the end 🥃

Poured a dram and right away it's all green apples and pear drops, quite zesty 🍐 Really young stuff though, like liquid barley sugar water with that raw cereal punch. A bit of ginger heat creeps in after, almost like Muscadet wine... strange comparison but it fits! The distillate itself is clean, but there's this chalky minerality mixed with orchard fruits. Almost no sherry influence detectable... totally different from what I usually expect from this region. Long finish though, with coffee grounds and white pepper slowly fading. Mother Nature! What are they putting in the casks nowadays? 😅

Warm and easy-going, with a bit of honey, soft fruit and gentle spice. There’s a light smoky edge too, not too much — just cosy. Nice wee sip by the fire 🥃✨

Warm and a wee bit smoky, with soft fruit and honey coming through. Feels cosy, gentle spice on the finish, quite moreish 🥃 Bit of oak too, but not too heavy.
