Whiskyspace Notes 1436

Right, so first thing – if you're into old school malts, you'll probably get on with this rather well. Proper old skool, you know? You get this lovely hit of barley sugar on the nose first, quite a bit of it actually. Then there's some sweet honeyed notes and grass, like fresh straw in a field. 🌾 Taking a sip, it's not an easy-easy whisky at all. There's a nice sweetness, kind of like cider apples and marzipan. More porridge-like thickness comes through. But then there's a bit of spice – cloves and pepper – and a tad bitter on the back end, not in a bad way though. The finish is rather long. You're left with mineral, flinty, wet gravel notes and more of that grassy, herbal character. Quite earthy. Overall, it's got a very sexy depth to it, but you need to sit with it. Not a quick drink. 🍏
