Wow, the nose on this is really pleasant – I'm thinking of Turkish delights and a bit of orange blossom water. Sipping it, there's something exotic with some mango jelly and drops of moscatel, then it gets into richer sherry and these jams that are still here, like apricot jam. Oh, and nougats! It's got notes of Jaffa cakes too, but more drying because of that cocoa powder. Various honeys come through, with lovely notes of homemade marmalade. Honestly, it's really better than I remembered from earlier vintages – a medium, pale amber dram that's really a hit in any household. I can taste old wine barrels and pastries, maybe some Smyrna raisins in there. 👍
