Well, poured a dram of this after dinner. 👃 First thing, really pleasant on the nose – got lovely notes of homemade marmalade and something a bit exotic, maybe like a hint of mango jelly. Pale amber colour in the glass, looked inviting.
Sipping it now... upfront there's more honey coming through, not just one type but like various honeys mixed together. 🍯 Quite a medium body. Then I get a distinct hit of Jaffa cakes and some orange blossom water, very pastries-like. There are also drops of moscatel sweetness and nougats in there.
The finish has Honey-coated roasted pecans and some Smyrna raisins, a bit like Turkish delights. As it opens up, I'm getting cocoa powder, which makes it a bit more drying towards the end, which is actually quite nice.
Honestly, it's really better than I remembered it from earlier vintages – a really a hit in any household, I reckon. 🥃
