First sip and honestly, it's a bit odd — but I love love love that about it. The coal smoke hits you straight away, that damp garden peat thing going on, really vegetal and smoky and peppery. Then there's this strange plasticky note that could be a flaw but somehow... isn't? 🤷 Like a weird varnish on old aubergines. The sherry's doing its thing with cherries and raisins and these roasted pecans, but it's very vegetal sherry if that makes sense — artichokes, green pepper, bizarre smoked things. Kind of reminds me of game, like a well-hung grouse that's been hanging too long. And there's this old bag of old walnuts thing plus blended tea and tobacco — supremely funny combination that shouldn't work but does. The colour's gorgeous, proper gold. There's a Pauillac wine thing going on in the background, which is unexpected. Exceptional earthiness throughout, superb peppery kick. Long finish, vive la différence and all that. It's flawed, probably, but that funny jam quality just makes me grin. Could drink this all evening honestly 😊

天啊,这杯闻起来像打开了一个旧柜子,混着一股…老核桃的味道?还有点潮湿的后院泥煤味。 说实话,第一口感觉有点怪,像嚼了块茄子,又尝到点很“植物感”的雪莉酒味。隐约有点新家具上光漆的气息? 不过细品之下,深处有葡萄干和烤山核桃的甜香。啊,对了,还有那种刺刺的杜松子味! 这杯真的很“蔬菜”,带点烟熏和胡椒的辛辣。回味超长,久久不散,有点像尝了口奇怪的果酱,又联想到野味的肉香…真是复杂。🤔

Oh this one’s got a wild character! Love love love the initial hit, though it’s oddly vegetable-like — smoky and peppery, almost like coal fire next to some roasted artichokes 🤔 Then there’s this unexpected thing of blended tea and tobacco, with a very specific earthiness that reminds me of Pauillac wine somehow. It’s bizarrely smoky in a good way, but also has this varnish-like edge that’s a bit…plastic? Almost like well-hung grouse mixed with aubergines. The finish is long though, and those roasted pecan notes start to peek out. A flawed but gold dram — seriously vegetal sherry cask vibes. Makes me think of autumn walks.

这杯的颜色倒是挺正的金黄,闻着就有混合茶香和烟草味,还有点烤山核桃的香,真不错! 喝起来居然有朝鲜蓟那种微苦,但配上雪莉桶带来的葡萄干和那种怪怪的果酱味,又平衡了。嘴里还有点青椒和茄子的影子?挺奇妙的。 泥煤味是潮湿花园泥巴那种,夹着煤烟,偶尔冒出烟熏的怪味,但就是让人停不下口。尾韵长得惊人,带点胡椒的暖意,最后隐约有老核桃袋和红酒桶单宁的感觉(有点像波雅克那种?)。 虽然有人说它有塑料感或微瑕,但我反而觉得这种古怪搭配特别有意思,真是又爱又猜不透的一杯!😅🥃

Right, so nosing this is a proper trip. Smells of well-hung grouse and an old bag of old walnuts, then raisins, and this odd plastic whiff, like a blended tea and tobacco tin left open. Very vegetal sherry, loads of green pepper, and a vegetal smoky peppery thing with a lick of varnish. Odd, supremely funny. Sipping it, there’s coal smoke and aubergines, love love love. Exceptional earthiness, deep damp garden peat, and a glint of gold. Cherries and then these bizarre smoked things. It’s bonkers but I adore it.
