Really waxy mouthfeel on this one, almost oily in a good way. Get that sunflower and linseed thing straight away, reminds me of opening a bag of seeds in the garden shed. The peat's there but it's gentle, not aggressive. Got hints of the northern Highlands about it somehow - that sort of remote funkiness you get from somewhere properly isolated. Fresh walnuts come through, maybe some hazelnut too, and there's touches of aniseed hiding in the background. Thick distillate, loads of oils swirling around. Can tell it's had time in an ex-Laphroaig cask, that smoky depth is unmistakable without being overwhelming. Grape pips on the finish, bit of woodruff which is quite unusual. On more of all that, it's just a really characterful dram. Proper bastard of a whisky in the best possible way 😄

Oh wow, that's... quite something. First sip and immediately I'm hit with this big wave of peat and a sharp, almost medicinal kind of note. Reminds me strongly of that Islay character, you know? Then there's this odd, sourish grape seed thing and a faint whiff of straw or white wine in the background. It feels really oily and waxy in the mouth, very full. Underneath all that smoke, I'm getting these flashes of green herbs, maybe some woodruff or sunflower stalks? And then a touch of that bitter wormwood and aniseed. There's a definite funk to it, like something from a remote barn, and hints of fresh walnuts. The finish is very long and herbal. Honestly, it's a naked, rugged dram with loads of character. That ex-rum hogshead must've added a subtle sweetness to balance all those oils. Quite the journey! 😄

Just had a sip – it's oily and the finish is long. Bright with hints of the northern Highlands, I get wormwood and linseed, touches of aniseed. Feels naked and waxy, like straw or white wine. A proper bastard, but intriguing. Fresh walnuts and hazelnut come through, very herbal – reminds me of sunflower seeds and leaves. On more of all that, it keeps unfolding. 🥃

Warm and cosy dram 🥃 I get honey, soft spice, a bit of dried fruit and oak. Feels smooth, slightly smoky, with a nice wee kick at the end. Quite comforting tbh.

Lovely wee dram 🥃 Soft sweetness, a bit of oak, and a warm spicy finish. Feels cosy, like a quiet night in. Slightly smoky, but not too much. Goes down nicely.
