Oh mate, just had a rather interesting dram tonight. 😊 First thing that hit the nose was this lovely mix of ripe mango and guava – tropical vibes, you know? Then there’s this subtle smokiness, a bit like lapsang souchong tea, which ties in nicely with the fruit. When you take a sip, it’s like the oak steps forward – quite a presence, but honestly, it works surprisingly well with those fruity notes. Almost feels like the fruits are playfully pushing back against the wood on your tongue. There’s a hint of white pepper tickle, and in the finish, some cinnamon warmth sneaks in. Oh, and that odd touch of liquorice allsorts and something vaguely mentholated? Makes me think of dry cough syrup, but in a strangely charming way. For something this pale – especially for a 44-year-old – it’s got a lovely coating texture. Really quite unusual, that je ne sais quoi you can’t quite put your finger on. Globally? It’s hitting a great spot. Very good indeed. 🥃
