Pouring this one, it's proper dark mahogany. The nose hits you with artichoke and a whiff of soy sauce, which is odd but kinda intriguing. Then you take a sip. Wow, much jammier than the nose suggests – like strawberry jam gets into a fight with a box of Cuban cigars. Dark chocolate takes centre stage, that over 90% cacao vibe, with a heap of cumin-spiced tobacco right behind it. There's a bit of a fighter's spirit in there, reminds me of some old Glenclas I had once, with that earthy, basaltic backdrop. The finish is long, drier. The chocolate and some bitter truffles linger, but it all fades into a proper bone-dry oloroso character. Marvellous. 👍

First thing I noticed – pour that out, it’s the colour of dark mahogany, almost black cherry. Proper deep stuff. Nose is a big hit of black truffle straight away, mixed with a heap of cumin-spiced tobacco. Underneath that, there’s this lovely strawberry jam sweetness and a hint of orange liqueur trying to peek through. A bit of old wood glue and some earthy, basaltic backdrop too. Taste? Oh, much more jammier than the nose suggested. That strawberry jam is front and centre now, coated in very dark chocolate and a proper oloroso richness. Still got that dominant truffle, but it’s joined by these savoury notes – soy sauce, aubergines, even a whisper of morels. It’s got a natural sulphur note that isn’t unpleasant, just there. It’s a bit of a fighter on the palate, but in a good way – bold and unapologetically old-school. The finish is long and drier, with bitter chocolate and truffles lingering, fading into that classic old Glenrothes oaky warmth. A marvellous single cask experience, feels like forty tonnes of chestnut cream was somehow folded in. 🤯

Right, let’s have a proper sniff then… 👃 First whiff’s all orchard fruits and a whisp of heather honey, almost too shy at the start. Opens up with a bit of toffee apple and a faint nuttiness — reminds me of strollin through a damp orchard in autumn, ye know? 🍂🍏 On the palate, she’s gentle but not thin. More of that honnied malt, drizzle of vanilla custard, then a wee kick of cinnamon and a touch of orange peel. There’s a creamy oak thing goin on, almost like butterd shortbread steeped in tea. Love that soft tingle, nothing harsh at all. Finish is medium, warms the chest nicely and leaves a bit of that spicd biscuit hangin around. Just a whisper of smokiness at the very end, like someone struck a match in the next room. 🔥 Proper comfy dram, this. No fireworks, just a well-mannered sipper for a rainy evening. 🥃

Quite cosy, really. Warm oak, a bit of honey, soft spice, and a wee smoky edge 🥃 Feels smooth and comforting, with a gentle dry finish. Nice for a slow evening.
