Poured a dram of this lovely full gold liquid into my glass. The colour itself is like polished old furniture, very inviting. First whiffs bring old leather and pollens, mixed with something like a drop of elderflower liqueur. Then there's bags and bags of citrusy and waxy herbs, it's quite something. A little swirl and I get whiffs of fern and moss, a real forest floor vibe. Take a sip and it's just... myriads of assorted herbal and fruity molecules dancing an endless jig on the tongue. Reminds me a bit of tropical fruit jams, with a touch of that old Bénédictine sweetness. It feels like nectars, rich but not heavy. The finish is long – more than one minute, easily – and develops into these piney raisins in the aftertaste. Honestly, there are no single signs of over-aging here, it feels so vibrant. It's almost a statement. Each year of its life seems to have added a layer, one second per year. Kind of reminds me of the best vintages of Yquem in its complexity. The art of raising whisky casks epitomised in a glass, I reckon. Cheers. 🥃✨
