Right, so first sip... whew, this is proper funky. Like walking into an old fermentary where someone left some green olives soaking in white wine vinegar. It’s got that rotting bananas thing going on, but in a weird, charming way. Then it gets a bit gentler, thank god. Still a bit sharp, mind you, very acetic. But there’s this clean, almost ueber-clean edge, like a wood-fired still did its job perfectly. Tastes like model paint smells, but also like lamp oil? Don’t ask me how that works. The finish is long. Like, LedZep-long. It just hangs around, kinda like a dirty rum crossed with... honestly, the first thing that popped into my head was a samurai. A very specific one. 🤷‍♂️ And right at the end, there’s this salty, umami-y samphire note. Not Jamaican, not Guyanian... definitely its own thing. A bit like varnish from that Varnish & Varnish’s place, but played on a piano by someone like Sakamoto or Hiromi. It’s an estery crossbreed, for sure. 🎹

Nosed it and instantly thought of a bakery around 5am, really. Croissants, baguettes, that lovely sourdough tang. In the glass, it’s like a sourdough loaf meets a lemon tartelette. There’s an avalanche of creamy, sweeter citrus right at the start, which is just tops. Then it gets fatter, with more bread and a bit of that meringue sweetness. For something with barely three years of age, it’s pretty long. The finish brings a hint of kerosene and plasticine, but in a good way, like Crème Eggs. Much more tropical on the way out – thinking not-too-ripe guavas and even pink bananas. Excellent bourbon wood influence, fab stuff. Not peated, just a clean, Impeccable sip. 🥃

Blimey, this one’s proper filthy. Nose hits like openin’ a jar of green olives that’s gone a bit whiffy, straight into white vinegar and that heady model paint smell from childhood Airfix kits. Varnishy as hell. Palate’s this mad fermentary thing—rotting bananas, black olives, almost bacterial? Like a mug of banana wine that’s been sat out, but not in a tropical way at all. Definitely not Jamaican or Guyanian, or even Fijian. Just… superlatively dirty. Estery funk mixed with samphire brine. Makes me think of Sakamoto and Hiromi tinkling away whilst “Achilles Last Stand” thunders in the next room. A proper samurai of a dram, sharp and unapologetic. The finish is loooong, clingin’ like a memory you can’t scrub off. 🍌🫒

Lovely ripe pear and deep golden sweetness 🍐 Feels thicker and a bit oilier than expected, with fermenting fruit, beer-ish malt and a menthol tobacco edge. Water brings out camphor and more depth, though the finish gets a wee varnishy twist. Not as bright, but richer and dirtier in a good way.
