Right, poured myself a glass tonight. The colour's this lovely full gold. First thing I get is that ripe plums note, but it's lighter, you know? Swims like a champ across the tongue. There's a definite honeyed character, almost like wonderful mead, with a fresher, beehive-y quality. I'm getting yellow flowers, maybe some honeydew melon, and a touch of liquorice in the background. It's wonderfully fruity – thinking wheelbarrows of juicy sultanines. The oak's there, but just a tad biting in a good way, providing a nice long and spicier finish. Not as heavy as some very honeyed Speysiders can be. The sherry influence feels lighter, more Balvenie-ish perhaps. Really enjoy how it all comes together – plums are just perfect in this. 🥃
