Poured this one neat after dinner – right away I got Spanish apple liqueur on the nose, though it fades a little after a while. First sip: big grapefruit tartness, then... bloody hell, lashings of ripe papaya come through? Works surprisingly well. Tried a splash of water – whole thing shifts sweetly towards candied treats and apples. There's a faint nod to mezcal (that smoky edge?) and a subtle edge of pepper on the finish. Oddly, fresh rubber pops up mid-palate, like new tyres for Tesla... but then citron and bitter almonds balance it. Sweet wine cask influence lingers. Finish is long and fairly sweet. Admirable young Glen Spey – a splendid surprise! Hurrah for happy accidents 🥃
