Right, here’s what I got from that dram – purely from a sipper’s point of view, no names mentioned. Nose hits with a waft of toffee and baked apple 🍎, then a wee bit of cinnamon and clove sneaks in. No overpowering alcohl burn, which is canny. On the palate, it’s quite oily, coats the mouth nicely. Dried apricots, a touch of honey, maybe some walnut. The oak spice is there but it’s mellow, more like vanilla pod than raw timber. Reminds me of a fruitcake my nan used to make, just less boozy fruit. Finish is warm and lingering, with a soft peppery tingle and that dried fruit sweetness hanging about. A splash of water brings out more malty, biscuity notes. Lovley stuff for a cold evening by the fire 🔥.
