Just had a glass of something really unusual tonight. First sip hits with this peppery kick, almost sharp, and there’s a little chemical vibe right at the start – like fresh concrete or new leatherette, you know? But then it kind of mellows out, gets marginally rounder and smoother. The smell’s wild – got this grass and raw wool thing going on, with hints of lemon grass and thyme. Definitely a little drying on the tongue. Felt very austere, very ‘old style’. Some tobacco and newspapers came through too, which was… curious. After a few minutes, marmalade started coming through, which helped balance things out. Found touches of parsley and chives in there too? Wild. The aftertaste was long, with some coffee and oak, and this linseed oil and almonds note that lingered. Not on the tarry side at all, more like propolis and a bit of lemon squash. Honestly, a fairly challenging malt whisky – not one for travel retail, that’s for sure. Hard to score, because it’s fabulously un-commercial. Makes you wonder if they’re trying to play it like some old distillate style, maybe even smoothen things up but it’s still so… raw. Almost romantic in its stubbornness? 🤔 Very curious to see how this one develops with the bottle.

Warm and cosy dram 🥃 Bit of honey, soft smoke, oak and dried fruit. Feels smooth, slightly spicy, with a gentle sweet finish. Nice on a chilly evening, proper comforting 🙂

Quite cosy, this one. I get soft caramel, a bit of dried fruit, and a gentle oaky warmth. The finish feels lightly spicy, with a wee touch of smoke 🥃 Easy to sip, especially on a chilly evening.

Just tried this whisky – it's so rich and smoothe! 😋 I get loads of vanilla and honey, with a nice spicey kick. Quite peaty too, which I really enjoy. 🥃 Occasionally I notice fruity notes as well. Really smooth going down. 👍

Right, so first sip hits you with this warm, spicy kick – kinda like gingerbread fresh from the oven? 🍪 Then it mellows into somethin' sweet, maybe honey or toffee, with a lovely smoky finish that just lingers. Loovly. Gets a bit floral too, I reckon? Like sniffin' an old leather armchair in a sunny room. 🌸 There's a touch of citrus zest cuttin' through the sweetness, keeps it from bein' too heavy. Quite moreish. After a while, you get these gentle waves of dark chocolate and a bit of dried fruit. Nuts, maybe? It's a proper cozy dram, perfect for a rainy afternoon. 🔥 Finish is long and warm, leaves you with that familiar woody, oak-y taste and a faint whisper of vanilla. Smashing.
