Oh this one’s got a proper deep gold colour, like old amber. Smells like walking into a conifer forest after rain - fir buds and fern, that sort of green freshness. Wait, there’s something else... roasted figs? And a bit like honeydew you’d find on leaves. Very classic in its composition, really. On the palate it’s fruitier than expected, but with this lovely earthy undertone. Like forest floor and moss. Quite oily too, coats the glass. There’s a bitterness creeping in - not unpleasant, maybe like celeriac. And that oak! It’s there, a bit pronounced, almost dusty. Definitely shows its age in all its full glory, though. Finish brings back some honeys and a touch of pepper. Reminds me a little of chestnuts roasting. Quite the experience! 🌲🍯
