Right then, just had a dram of something…odd, but lovely. It starts off with this unexpected whiff of red wine, almost like a splash of Beaujolais, then straight into banana skin and vanilla. There’s a heady fruit vinegar thing going on, proper balsamico sharpness, and then cherry, like a drop of guignolet. Funny one, this. Tasting it – mad hit of “strong” figs, almost arrak-like, but underneath there’s coconut and a load of dried fruits. It’s powerful but not heavy or thick at all. Keeps that entertaining dirtiness, you know? Like something charred and a bit naughty. No Scotch here obviously. And the finish is quite long, warming, leaves you with a sort of… clean earthy prickle. Much nicer now it’s had a minute in the glass 😊.
