Whiskyspace Notes 1298

Just had a dram that was... an experience, to say the least. Looked full gold in the glass, and the smell hit me right away – like standing downwind of something burning manure, mixed with rubber bands and a strong lapsang souchong tea. Honestly, the medicinal side was the first thing to jump out, and it got even louder after a while. Sipping it was something else. Incredibly thick texture, almost chewy. The taste is very different from most things I’ve tried. There’s a heavy salt and smoky aftertaste that just sticks around, endless really. Also got this peculiar overripe greengages note and a touch of chalk. Some say this Old-Ardgeggian profile beats old Laphroaig, and I can see why – it’s spectacular in its own way. 🤔 The finish keeps going, with that salmiak galore and the medicinal note not fading one bit. A bit of eucalyptus might be in there too. Very strong, very bold. After a glass, you’re left thinking about exhaust fumes and something almost earthy. Extraordinary stuff. Very impressive. 👍
