Light gold in the glass, rather thick. First nosing... zests! Like grapefruit juice left on the seaside counter. Then comes the deep stuff: smoke, yes, but also smoked eel, that brine and seaweed hit. It’s a full coastal territory, no doubt. On the tongue, it doesn’t go down easy at first. Very bold. I’m getting flashes of lapsang souchong, roasted tea, even a hint of cough lozenges and ointments in a weirdly nice way. There’s a Fanta-like sweetness trying to peek through, maybe passion fruit. A couple of sips in... twenty-four oysters. Smoked salmon. Smoked sesame. It’s a tad unusual. It’s like a working kiln by the sea. The finish is long, with squashes and bitter oranges at the very end. Needs a little work, though. Two drops of water should stabilize it. Wow, yes. Bingo. 🤙
