Right, cracked this one open last night after dinner and honestly it's a belter. 🥃 First thing I got was this lovely honey and lemon marmalade combo on the nose, like marmalade toast on a Sunday morning. Then a bit of grass smoke comes through, almost like a garden bonfire drifting over the fence. There's some hay and farminess in there too, quite charming really. On the palate it's got this perfect body - rounder than I expected, not too dry or oaky. Dried fruits and figs show up, with a touch of quinces which was a nice surprise. There's a bit of leathery depth, some spices and pepper giving it a kick. The oak comes out more as it opens up but never dominates. I'm getting strong mint and dill too, almost like a Swedish Gravlax thing going on? Weird but works somehow. 🤔 Pine sap and orange zests keep it fresh, and there's a definite sexiness to the whole thing - rich, complex, gold in the glass. Fairly long finish with liquorice and bananas of all things rounding it off. Just wonderful stuff honestly. Excellent dram for a quiet evening in. 👌
