Well, had a rather fascinating old Glen Garioch the other night — no idea what expression exactly, just found it in the back of the cupboard. Poured a dram and the colour was full gold, lovely stuff. First thing that hit me was these piney noses, like walking through a tropical forest after rain, all eucalyptus smells and thuja mixed together. Quite refined actually, not what I expected. Got some green tea notes too, maybe a little thyme tea? Took a sip and — honestly — a little frightening at times. Very concentrated lemon juice vibes, almost like strong tea left to brew too long. There's a wee feeling of turpentine in there which sounds awful but strangely works. Then came the whiffs of fresh-roasted pistachios and a little vetiver, earthy, like an old stump covered in mushrooms (the magic ones, if possible 😄). Not too resinous though, which I was worried about. Actually extremely far from any ueber-resinousness, more like pine needles in a gentle way. Pretty green overall, with a little humus character, some liquorice wood coming through as it opens up. Very lovely really. Tend to become lighter and fruitier the longer you sit with it. Menthol coolness lingers. Without any excessive dryness either. Honestly better than I expected from something just lurking in my cabinet. Might have to hunt down another bottle 😊

Right, so I poured myself a dram last night and honestly, it was pretty unusual. The colour's a lovely full gold, catches the light nicely. First thing I got was this big hit of pine needles and cedar wood — very resinous, almost ueber-resinous if I'm honest. Like sticking your nose into an old stump in a damp forest. There's a touch of menthol in there too, almost menthol tobacco vibes, which was a bit frightening at times if I'm being real 😅 On the palate it's bone-dry, really refined though. Started picking up fresh-roasted pistachios and some liquorice wood, maybe a hint of mushrooms which sounds odd but worked. The finish is rather long — ended up with this strong tea tannin thing, almost like thyme tea or even macha actually. Patchouli coming through at the end too. No soapy tones whatsoever which is always a relief. Might be a touch too resinous for some but I thought it was very good overall. Would definitely reach for it again on a cold evening 🥃

First sip, bloomin' heck! That's proper smoky wiv a peaty kick. 🥃 Then get all fruity, lyk apples n' pears, sweet as honey too. Finish's got a bit o' spice, innit? Lovely stuff! 😋
