Right, so this one’s got a proper zing to it—tart as anything, like biting into a green apple with a squeeze of lime. Orange zest pops first, then it turns a bit sooty from that coal smoke. It reminds me of an old garden bonfire, spent rhubarb stalks and all. There’s this wonderful freshness, though 🍃—pure grass and crushed flowers, a whisper of herbs. The finish is rather long, much more complex than I expected. Just a little pungent, but in a good way, with smoked marzipan weaving through the citrusy heat. Honestly, it’s incredible what a few extra-years can do to a whisky.
