Right, just nosed this and I'm straight back to a public swimming pool on Islay – that odd mix of chlorine, damp towels, and a faint gust of kelp burning from somewhere beyond the dunes. Mad how it drags up youth like that. First sip hits with proper PE-tarry heft, then bitter almonds and a flash of copper coins, like you've stuck your tongue on an old penny. Salty, beachy, a bit woody/grassy – almost sucking on liquorice wood. There’s a weird, lovely cranberry sharpness cutting through, like half a dried orange rind dipped in bitter cocoa powder. The 40% vol. feels more powerful, proper spirited, warming the chest while a briny aftertaste just sits there, golden and very excellent indeed.
