Right, so I poured myself a wee dram last night and honestly, it was pure magic. First thing that hit me was this stunning explosion of fruits and spices — apricots and plums just dancing around. Then there's this subtle crème de menthe vibe, like mint liqueur but not quite. Lovely stuff. The colour was full gold, beautiful in the glass really. Superb whiffs of dandelions came through too, which sounds odd but trust me, it works. The honeys were there as well, just gently sweetening things up. As it opened up, oak comes out a little more — some might say too oaky but I'd say just a wee tad less oaky than you'd expect for something this cerebral. There's a bit of white pepper kicking about too, keeps things interesting. The aftertaste? Sweet oak that lingers nicely, gone for good after a minute or two sadly, yes. Less sherry influence than I thought there'd be, more of a less expressive version of what I expected but still amazing. Too expensive though, isn't it? Like most of these irresistible 1972 Caperdonichs type drams. But honestly the anti-maltoporn brigade can say what they like — when it's this good, I don't care 😄 Gorgeous stuff, would definitely have again if my wallet allows!
