Pale gold in the glass, proper classic young Speysider from ex-sherry cask. Nose is all raisins and this lovely cake-y maltiness right away, then baked peaches and a whiff of mirabelle tarte. Touch of heather honey drifting in. Slightly struck matches vibe, but in a good way – keeps it lively. Taste brings bitter chocolate, brownies, and baked pears that melt into a soft rose-petal note, like Linkwood’s Turkish delight thing. Gets a wee bit earthy underneath, with layered roasted nuts and just a hint of burnt cake edges. Finishes malty and sweet, with more of those peaches. Really good, honest easy-going sipper. Perfect 85-point material. 🍑🌹🍫
