Whiskyspace Notes 1312

Wow, this whisky really shows the benefits of older age – absolutely excellent! It's almost summery, with loads of lemon and tangerines, zestier than lemon juice. There's a bit of seawater and a kippery feeling that's interesting. Reduced to about 45% vol, it's quite smooth. Methuselah once said something about patience, and this one seems to have paid off. The age is right, I think. You get raw wool and straw notes, plus a rather mineral and slightly tarry side. Whiffs of menthol in the aftertaste, still a little menthol lingering. It's both sharp and fat(tish), if you know what I mean. Somewhat peated, but rather less intense than some bold peated ones – it's the lemon that wins out. Oh excellent! Pretty long finish too. Woolite comes to mind with the woolly notes. 😊
