Wow, this whisky really shows the benefits of older age – absolutely excellent! It's almost summery, with loads of lemon and tangerines, zestier than lemon juice. There's a bit of seawater and a kippery feeling that's interesting. Reduced to about 45% vol, it's quite smooth. Methuselah once said something about patience, and this one seems to have paid off. The age is right, I think. You get raw wool and straw notes, plus a rather mineral and slightly tarry side. Whiffs of menthol in the aftertaste, still a little menthol lingering. It's both sharp and fat(tish), if you know what I mean. Somewhat peated, but rather less intense than some bold peated ones – it's the lemon that wins out. Oh excellent! Pretty long finish too. Woolite comes to mind with the woolly notes. 😊

Feels nicely mature, sharp but a bit plump too. Menthol on the nose, then kippers, raw wool, straw and fat peat smoke 🌫️ Loads of lemon cuts through, with tangerine and a wee passion fruit lift. With a splash of water it gets rounder, more complex. Finish is pretty long, lemony, smoky, still a touch minty. Oh, excellent 😌

Quite a cosy dram 🥃 I get soft malt, a bit of orange peel, light spice and a wee touch of oak. Feels warm, easy-going, with a slightly sweet finish. Nice for a slow evening, really.

Quite cosy on the nose — a bit of honey, soft fruit and gentle spice. Feels warm and mellow, with a wee oaky dryness at the end 🥃 Easy to sip, not too loud, just nicely comforting.

Just had a dram 🥃 Slite smokiness with some honeydew and a hint of oak. Really cozy feel, like a warm hug on a cold night. Proper comforting stuff.
