Right, poured a dram, straw colour, proper pale like sun-faded Ray-Bans. Nose hits you right between your eyes — rough and raw young malt, this grassy, almost stems-and-leaves punch, then touches of lemon and a whiff of salty smoke sneaking in. There’s barley sugar but also something weirdly psychedelic, like a café latte spilled on toasted bread with a smear of butterscotch. Honestly, it’s a bit mad. Sip and it’s huge and superb but fiery young — more peppery than I expected, straight to the cheeks. Loads of oranges and grapefruit at first, then it twists into bitter herbs, more bitter ale, and suddenly cherry? No, maybe those pink wafer finger biscuits. The middle gets oily and there’s vanilla fudge, then a vatting of island malts with that heathery peat trying to behave. Fruit bowl of peach and lemon barley cake, but the finish is very long, grassier, like chewing on vanilla cake laced with crushed barley stems. My ears are buzzing, proper head-spinner, this one. Could absolutely see it as teas, weirdly soothing in a chaotic way. 😵💫🍋🔥
