Had a wee dram of something special last night. First thing that hits you is that polished oak, proper old wood, but not in a tired way – it talks first, then all these farmy notes roll in. Wet grass, lovely grassiness, a real earthy humus thing going on. Almost like walking through a field after rain. Surprisingly fresh for its age. Got this light amber colour in the glass, and the fruit’s all mangos and marmalade, zesty and bright. There’s a gentle cinnamon warmth and a touch of menthol that lifts everything. With a few drops it reacts perfectly well, opens up even more – fresh croissants straight from the oven, no kidding. It’s not the ‘usual’ 1976 Tomatin you’d expect. Quality’s high, dangerously easy to drink. Feels like a classic 1976 done a bit differently, and I’m here for it. 🌾🥭
