Had a wee dram of this last night – first sniff was all stewed oranges and vanilla, surprisingly thick on the nose, like melted wax candles in a wooden box. Little hint of eucalyptus right at the back. Taste comes through proper fruity, bitter oranges and dried fruits at first, then about halfway it goes all litchis 🥭 and sappy, almost like chewing a clove-studded orange peel dipped in honey. There’s this lovely golden, oily weight to it, without being heavy at all. Then the spices build – white pepper and caraway seeds, but gentle. The caraway really lingers in the aftertaste, like someone crushed a few seeds on your tongue minutes later. Tiny lick of salt keeps it interesting. Finish is long and rounded, the spiciness becoming more complex as it fades, still that whisper of eucalyptus and wax, but now it’s fruitier again, almost sweet orange boiled sweets. Dead moreish. 👌
