Deep amber colour in the glass — looks proper. First whiff hits you with stewed prunes and pears, then something savoury, like miso soup? Odd but fun. Heather comes through too, gentle and floral. Sip it neat — oh, that’s smooth. Waxed figs and liquorice upfront, then dates and dried fruits. A bit of citron peel, maybe? It’s complex in a good way. Tastes like old amontillado and leather polish, with a touch of toasted croissants. Finish is all game-y and Parma ham, with menthol fudges and oak — seriously, the oak’s done perfectly. A miracle in a glass, really. Cheers to that. 🥃

Blimey, this one’s got a whiff of the game larder right off – a bit of hung mutton suet, Parma ham, that sort of thing. Underneath, it’s all melted toasted croissants and sticky dates, almost like an old-school orange squash Robinsons would’ve made, but thickened with manuka honey. Then it goes sideways in the best way… there’s this mentholy fudge vibe, like waxy figs and menthol-soaked sultanas, wrapped in a strand of old tobacco. Leather polish on a Connolly hide, definitely. Mid-palate it suddenly gives me a cuppa miso soup, savoury and round, then dives into stewed prunes, dried currants, and heathery resin. The whole finish feels like sipping an old amontillado someone’s dripped a bit of liquorice cough drop into – very resinous, with pears poached in honey and citron peel. Complex, but it all hangs together without any of that modern, splintery wood-tech nonsense. Just proper, time-worn depth.

Warm and cosy dram 🥃 I get soft oak, a bit of honey, dried fruit and gentle spice. Quite smooth, with a wee smoky edge and a sweet finish that hangs about nicely. Feels like a good sip for a chilly evening.

Quite cosy dram 🥃 I get soft smoke, honeyed malt, a bit of oak and orange peel. Turns slightly peppery, with a warm, sweet finish. Nice and easy, not too fussy.
