Just poured a dram for the evening and honestly there's so much fun to be had here 🥃 Right off the bat it's a bit mad. I'm getting fresh brioche dough mixed with a hefty whack of sweet sherry. Then there's this weirdly nostalgic scent that reminds me exactly of cough medicine for kids, but in a decent way? Loads of candied cherry and thick cassis coming through, maybe even some strawberry yoghurt and dried goji berris. There’s a faint floral thing going on too, a bit like peonies in the garden 🌸 Taking a sip... it's definitely a style! Quite medicinal at first, heavily reminiscent of sour woods and a glass of tart kriek beer. Then comes the heat with lots of pepper, specifically sharp cracked pepper right at the back of the throat. There's a lingering wisp of struck matches on the finish. I'm usually firmly against gunpowder notes in my whisky, but this somehow works alright. Cheers!

Oh blimey, the first thing that hits is that sharp smell, like cap guns or struck matches. Then comes this surprising wave of fruit, a bit of strawberry and cassis, almost like Jell-O. There's a yeasty, doughy quality too, brioche I suppose, but with a tang like yoghurt. Got a peppery kick and a slight medicinal edge, which sounds odd but it works. The finish is medium, leaving a memory of sour woods and a faint whiff of gunpowder. It's certainly got a style, a bit of a madcap journey from fire to fruit to bread. Quite the character. 😅

Poured a dram and it came out a lovely gold colour. First nosing got me thinking of brioche dough, maybe even a fruitier dough with some strawberry yoghurt mixed in. There’s a hint of struck matches and cap guns in the back, but it’s not off-putting, just a bit quirky. Sipping it, the malt is solid, and I’m getting a swirl of small red fruits – strawberries, candied cherry, a touch of cassis. There’s a little kick of cracked pepper right at the end. Someone mentioned it reminds them of kriek beer, and honestly, I see that. The finish is medium, fading with that sherry influence and a whisper of dried goji berries. It’s firmly against any harsh gunpowder notes, which is a relief. Has a weirdly nostalgic hint of kids’ cough medicine, but in a good way? 🤔 No obvious dissonances, just much fun to be had with this one.

Quite cosy, really. Bit of sweet spice, some dried fruit, and a soft woody warmth 🥃 Feels smooth enough, with a wee peppery kick near the end. Nice on a chilly evening.
