Had a dram last night and it was a right oak bomb, frankly over-oaked from the first sip. Spicy arrival with bags and bags of cinnamon, then pencil shavings and sawdust popped up, like sniffing a workshop. There's lavender and bitter cocoa, but the oak just keeps piling on, very oaky indeed. Texture's gritty and very dry, drying out my mouth. Reminds me of spicy bread sprinkled with custard and caraway bread – the colour's gold. Maple syrup and ginger hide underneath, but the typical oak juice takes over. Really very oaky! Medium-bodied, with a hint of coconut cream trying to balance it. 😅
