Nosing: bit of everything, really. Smoky, like a campfire, but then... lovely honey and baked apple comes through. 🍯🍎
Arrival on the tongue is quite gentle, almost like warm toast with butter. Then the mid-palate explodes! There's a definite spicy kick - ginger, maybe? - alongside that classic, peaty earthiness.
The finish is long, dry, and wonderfully warming. Leaves a sort of oaky, smoky aftertaste that lingers for ages. Proper dram, that. 👍
It's... complex. At 46% ABV, it opens up beautifully with a drop of water. Really lets those fruit notes - pear, I think - shine through the smoke. A bit dirsty at first, but then that lovely, sweet cereal note comes forward.
