Nose is all damp leaves and leather, like sticking your head in an old humidor. Tiny whiff of horseradish mustard, but that fades into a proper horse saddle chew. First sip hits dark gold and ultra-bright, proper Torabhaig smack, then this wave of cracked pepper and walnuts soaked in Talisker brine. Very salty, almost glutamate-y on the tongue, with bitter nuts and sour tobacco trailing behind. The finishings on this work so well – the aftertaste sticks like you’ve licked a pepper mill wrapped in old tack leather. Oddly moreish.
