Right, so on the nose... 👃 I get a bit of that classic smoky peat, kinda like a distant bonfire. Then there's some sweet toffee apples and a touch of vanilla. Mabey a hint of wet leather, too. Smells proper autumnal, it does.
First sip: wow, it's kinda syrupy sweet at first. Lots of caramel and stewed fruit, but then a wave of warm spices comes in. Ginger and a bit of clove, I reckon. There's a woody, nutty thing in the middle... mabey toasted oak? It's complex, innit.
The finish is long and warming. 🔥 That smokiness comes back, along with some dark chocolate and a bit of dried fruit. It lingers nicely, feels quite rich. Leaves my mouth feelin' a bit dry and oaky, in a good way. 👍
A solid drop, this. Nice balance between sweet, smoky and spicy. Perfect for a quiet evening.
