Right, this is pure black magic in a glass. Straight off, I get anchovies? Yeah, briny, savoury weirdness. But then it’s pure magic, crystal-clean on the palate, like sipping liquid hydrocarbons… the greatest cough syrup ever, I swear. Big big whisky, genuinely impressive. The citrus hit is immense – massive lemon zest, grapefruit pith. Water will help, definitely. Neat it’s got this Campari bitterness that almost makes you want to get sick (but you keep going back). With a few drops it morphs into this mad cider note, crisp and yeasty. But here’s the odd bit – the more you add water the bigger it gets, not just softer; it bulks up, oily, like olive oil swirling in the glass. Then it goes a bit less pure, a hint of mango chutney sweetness and spice creeping in. Mental. Absolutely mental.
