Blimey, this is proper Supreme Champion stuff straight off the bat. 😮💨 Neat it’s just a massive cassis jam wallop—blackcurrant jelly, crème de cassis, almost sticky—so water is needed, urgently. I’d even say blind I’d be lost in an old, austere sherry cask dream, all mahogany/coffee colour and bone marrow in beef bouillon, hints of other soups, a whiff of thuja wood and moss. With a splash it breathes herbs—chives, parsley—then pencil shavings, oak, and a funky edge some of my compadres swear is pure civit cat, but I get more of a great pinot noir, Chambertin elegance. Dark bitter chocolate kicks in, splendidly bittersweet, then bitter oranges in the aftertaste, like a lick of orange liqueur. Water brings out cherries, and a wood shaving dryness. It’s strong but minimal, feels like a Gold dram from a great cask. Well done, whoever nudged this out. 🥃🍒
